Start your setup process with creating your BM account. you must set up a Meta Business Manager account. Follow the below article if you do not have BM account.

Instructions to create your Business Manager Account

Follow below steps -

  1. Create Business Manager Account
  2. Connect your Instagram account
  3. Connect your Facebook Page
  4. Create a Commerce account
  5. Access Instagram business account

Connect your Instagram account

After creating your Business Manager account, you will need to connect your Instagram account. Follow the below steps to link accounts.

Link your Business Manager and Instagram Account

To add your business Instagram account to your Business Manager account:

  • Click on the blue button “Add”:
  • Click on “Connect Your Instagram Account”:
  • Log into your Instagram business account

Connect your Facebook Page

After linking your Instagram page to your BM account, link your Facebook Page.

Link your Business Manager and Facebook Page

To add your Facebook Page to your Business Manager account:

  • Go to https://business.facebook.com/
  • Select the Business
  • On the next page click the square fly-out menu in the left nav and then click on Business Settings
  • Next in Facebook Business Settings go to Accounts > Pages and click Add

Once you click Add you will be given three options:

  • Add a Page
  • Request Access to a Page
  • Create a New Page

Let’s take a look at each option:

  • Add a Facebook Page by entering the Facebook Page name or URL
  • Request Access to a Facebook Page by entering the Facebook Page name or URL

Create a Commerce account

To sell on Instagram and Facebook, you will need to upload products and for that you will need a commerce account. Follow below steps to create your commerce account to use features like Instagram Shopping, Instagram Checkout, Facebook Shops, etc.

Access Facebook Commerce Manager

1. Navigate to Commerce Manager

Visit business.facebook.com and locate the Commerce Manager section. If you don’t see it immediately, click on the “More Tools” dropdown menu on the left side to find it. This will lead you to the main interface where you can begin setting up Commerce Manager.

2. Create your first catalog

Within Commerce Manager, navigate to the “Catalogs” tab and select “Create Catalog.” Follow the prompts to set up your product catalog, which will serve as the central repository for all the items you wish to sell on Instagram. You can organize your products into different categories, add descriptions, images, and other relevant details.

3. Add products to your catalog

Once your catalog is created, you can start adding products to it. Click on your catalog in Commerce Manager, then select the “Add Items” button. From here, you have the option to manually enter the product details or import them from an existing data source such as a spreadsheet or a data feed. Take care to provide accurate and appealing information to attract potential customers.

You can only choose Data Feed as your option here to load products from WooCommerce.

4. Configure commerce settings

In Commerce Manager, click on the “Settings” tab and configure your business details. This includes setting up shipping options, defining accepted payment methods, and establishing clear return policies. It’s important to ensure that your business complies with Instagram’s commerce policies to maintain a smooth selling experience and positive customer satisfaction.

5. Submit your account for review

Once you have configured your settings, head to the “Account” tab in Commerce Manager and click on “Submit Account for Review.” This step is crucial to enable Instagram Shopping on your account. During the review process, Instagram will assess your eligibility and compliance with their guidelines. You may be required to provide additional information about your business and ensure that you meet all the necessary criteria.

6. Review and launch

After submitting your account for review, the process may take several days to complete. You’ll receive a notification regarding the status of your application. If your account is approved, you’ll be able to enable shopping features on your Instagram posts and stories, making it easier for your followers to discover and purchase your products directly from the app.

It’s important to note that throughout the setup process and when managing your shopping features, it is essential to carefully review Instagram’s commerce policies and guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance.

Instagram business account

Instagram offers three profile types: Personal, Business, and Creator. All Instagram accounts start off as Personal by default. You can choose to convert your profile type at any time. Due to limitations from Instagram, only Business profiles get full access to Hootsuite’s Instagram features such as engagement, analytics, and direct publishing.

Once your Business Manager account is configured correctly, the next step is to convert your Instagram account into a business account. You can accomplish this in two ways: From the Instagram app or by connecting your Instagram account to a Facebook Page.

Convert your Instagram profile to a Business profile Using

1. Facebook Page

  • A Facebook Page to connect your Instagram profile to.
    • Only one Instagram profile can be connected to a Facebook Page and vice versa. If you need to create a new one, see the Facebook help article Create a Facebook Page.
  • Make sure you’ve got the right permissions (see the Facebook help article See your Facebook Page role or access):
    • Facebook Page classic – Admin or Editor Page role.
    • New Facebook Pages experience – Full or partial control.
    • Asset in Facebook Business Manager – Management access to the Page in your Business Manager account. See the Facebook help article Add People to Your Business Manager.

2. Mobile App

  1. In the Instagram mobile app, go to your profile, and then select the menu on the top right.
  2. Select Settings, then Account, and then scroll to the bottom.
    • Personal account – Select Switch to professional account, and then choose Business.
    • Creator account – Select Switch account type, and then Switch to business account.
  3. Follow Instagram’s instructions to Add an Instagram account from your Facebook Page
