What does Capture Charge Mean?

Credit card capture or authorization capture takes place after a payment authorization. It’s when the authorized money is transferred from the customer’s account to a merchant’s account. So, in short, the transaction amount doesn’t reach the merchant account until the funds are captured.

This Authorize.net Payment Gateway For WooCommerce allows you to capture charges only if your Transaction Type Setting is set to Authorization. It is not possible with Charge mode, using capture button in this mode will show up a error message with non valid reference id.

Capture Charges in Authorize.Net Payment Gateway For WooCommerce.

This plugin allows you to authorize charges during a checkout process and capture then later. You can do this from payment gateway’s admin dashboard. Also you can control this from WooCommerce’s Edit Order Page.

You will either see Capture Charge button on Order tab or Order Action menu. If you are setting the payment as authorized for any order then the status for that order is set to On hold. You can edit this from WooCommerce > Orders. then clicking on the order number to edit the order that needs to have the charge captured.

After you select order as Captured Charge and save the order then payment gateway will update the status to processing and the order notes will be updated to reflect thesee changes. If you want to capture charges for bulk then also it is possible. Select all the orders which you want to capture charges on the “Orders” page and then use the bulk Capture Charge action to update all the order’s status.

Auto-capture with status changes

This plugin allows you to accept automated capture charges when an order changes to a paid status which are either processing or completed. It will automatically attempt to capture a transaction when the status changes. In this manner the default capture charge actions is removed and everything is done automatically.

The below settings should be activated if you want to process auto-captures.
